Bartenders
Bartenders fill drink orders either taken directly from patrons at the bar or through waiters and
waitresses who place drink orders for customers. Bartenders check identification of customers
seated at the bar, to ensure they meet the minimum age requirement for the purchase of alcohol
and tobacco products. They pour wine and serve bottled or draft beer, or other beverages.
Bartenders must have a good general knowledge of wines and be able to serve drinks accurately,
quickly, and without waste. Besides serving drinks, bartenders stock and prepare garnishes for
drinks; maintain an adequate supply of ice, glasses, and other bar supplies; and keep the bar area
clean for customers. They also collect payment, operate the cash register, wash glassware and
utensils, and serve food to customers seated at the bar. Bartenders usually are responsible for
ordering and maintaining an inventory of wines, beers, sodas and other bar supplies. Bartenders have
the right to "card" or see if you have ID. The bartender will directly serve and interact with
patrons and so should be friendly and enjoy talking with customers.

friendly, professional, and timely service of food and beverages for customers. Serves beverages
to patrons seated at tables in bar. Computes bill and accepts payment. Knowledge of wines
preferred but not essential. Takes orders for and serves appetizers and desserts. May request
identification from customers when legal age is questioned. May also be required to seat patrons at
available tables, as well as bus their tables.
Will learn all drinks and obtain a good knowledge of wines. May prepare all drinks/wine for the
guests in absence of bartender.
